  • Go To the Art Gallery 

The William Secord Gallery on the Upper East Side welcomes all leashed pets. The gallery specializes in 19th century dog and animal paintings. They also display some contemporary dog art. 


  •   Go Shopping

Plenty of stores in New York City are pet friendly, including world famous ones like Tiffany's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Michael Kors, and Bloomingdales. In general, if you ask nicely, staff will probably let you bring your dog in, as long as she is on a leash.  



  •  Ride The Ferry  

 Leashed dogs are allowed on the Seastreak Ferry, which you can ride from 35th Street in Manhattan down to Wall Street to get a great view of the city. You can also take the Seastreak Ferry all the way to Atlantic Highlands, if you want a longer trip and a good view of the Statue of Liberty. For a free ferry ride, you can take a small dog on the Staten Island Ferry. 



  •  Take A Tour 

 Dogs will probably be allowed on most walking tours in NYC, but to guarantee a dog-friendly experience, you can call Tawny Tours, run by Art Zuckerman. He organizes tours of many NYC neighborhoods which include stops at dog parks and meals at dog-friendly restaurants. 



 

  • Brooklyn Bridge

 Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed and suspension bridge in New York City that crosses over the East River and connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Leashed dogs are welcome to join you as you admire the views from either side from the paved, dog-friendly, pedestrian pathway on the bridge. Make sure you keep Fido close as the bridge is a popular crossing for commuters. 



 

  • The Battery

State St & Battery Pl, New York, NY, US, 10004 

Leashed pets can join you in designated areas of The Battery in New York, set right on the water with views of the Statue of Liberty. The historic, dog-friendly park features breathtaking harbor views, vast perennial gardens, bike paths, grand lawns, an urban farm, and a SeaGlass carousel. 



 

  • Rockaway Beach

Beach 3 St to Beach 153 St, New York, NY, US, 11693 

 Rockaway Beach is New York City's only legal surfing beach, making it a top attraction in Queens, NY. Fido doesn't need a surfboard to enjoy a day in the sun. Leashed dogs are welcome on the beach and the pet-friendly boardwalk. Pet owners must have proof of current dog license and rabies vaccination. Please note that, although Rockaway Beach is open year-round, dogs are only allowed during the off-season. 


 

  • Union Square Park

Broadway & E 14th St, New York, NY, US, 10003 

 Leashed dogs are welcome in this park. On weekends, you'll often find mass congregations of New Yorkers here at events like the Greenmarket. 


 

  • Central Park

59th St and 5th Ave, New York, NY, US, 10022 

 No trip to Manhattan with your dog would be complete without a stroll through Central Park. Dogs must remain on-leash in the park except during designated off-leash hours in 23 areas of the park. Off-leash hours are before 9:00am and after 9:00pm. There are over 15 dog fountains throughout the park. Visit the website for specific information on dog-friendly areas. Make sure to always clean up after your pet. 


 

  • Z-Travel & Leisure Tours

5th Ave & 105th St, New York, NY, US, 10021 

 If you want to find out more about NYC, take a tour with Art and Susan Zuckerman of Z-Travel and Leisure Tours. Art and Susan offer 80 different types of tours including neighborhood tours, themed tours, ethnic tours, food tours, water tours, and a chocolate tours. All their tours can be adapted for guests traveling with dogs. Just be sure to mention you will be bringing a dog when you call to schedule a tour. 



 

  • East River Park Esplanade

E River Bikeway, New York, NY, US, 10016 

Let your dog get some off-leash exercise at this clean, safe dog park, which is fully fenced. This park does tend to be busy in the evening hours. 


 

  • NYC Ferry

South St & Gouverneur Ln, New York, NY, US, 10005 

NYC Ferry is a pet-friendly tour company in New York. They offer five routes, as well as one seasonal route, connecting 21 ferry piers in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. Leashed dogs are welcome on board, as long as they are muzzled or contained within a carrier. Trips are operated every day of the week from 5:30am to 10:30pm. 




  • Queen Mary II

Cunard White Star Pier/Pier 54, 55 East River Piers, New York, NY, US, 10004 

 Pets in the upper kennels must weigh under 26 lbs, whereas larger animals are housed in the lower kennels. The fee for animals is $800 in the upper kennel and $1,000 in the lower kennel. Dog visiting hours are after breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m., for brunch at 11 a.m. to noon, for afternoon tea at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and for supper from 8 to 8:30 p.m. 



 

  • Manhattan Kayak Co

555 12th Ave, New York, NY, US, 10019 

 Paddle with your best friend at summer Splash for Dogs, a dog-friendly activity run by Manhattan Kayak Co. in New York, NY. No experience is necessary, set out on a 45 minute cruise of the cove. Staff are on-hand and positioned in the water to supervise this exciting excursion and ensure you and your pup stay safe. Dogs weighing up to 50 lbs can join their owner on a single kayak, double kayak, or paddle board. Dogs over 50 lbs are assigned to the the big easy boards so you can both sit comfortably, and dogs under 15 lbs can ride together. 




  •  Blessing of the Pets at St. Francis of Assisi

 Sunday, October 3, at 2:00 PM Church on W. 31st Street

  •  Cat Open House

Our Cat Open Houses are open for visits to approved applicants, each of whom will receive a scheduled appointment to work with a volunteer and meet our kitties. If you are approved and have already visited our Kitty Cottage, please don't hesitate to email us to schedule a re-visit.
